CANSkate

Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program is designed for beginners of all ages.  Skaters are assesed in the areas of Agility, Balance and Control using circuits and stations.  Lessons are given in a group format and led by NCCP certified Professional coaches and assisted by trained Program Assistants. The CANSkate program prepares skaters for further development in all ice sports.  This program is recommended for skaters ages 3 and up, however skaters may be assesed for readiness by our coaches at a younger age.

Skate Canada Mandatory Helmet Policy is in effect for all skaters in this program up to and including Stage 5. 

 

CANSkate Plus

Skaters participate in the group lesson CanSkate program, plus an additional 30 minute session.  During this time skaters will have a group lesson as well as some independent time where they will practise on their own, with peers, or may take a private or semi-private lesson with one of our Professional coaches.  Group lesson fees are included in the program cost, private and semi-private lesson fees are in addition to program cost and are paid directly to your coach.  This program is recommended for skaters working on Stage 3 and up.

Skate Canada Mandatory Helmet Policy is in effect for all skaters in this program up to and including Stage 5. 

STARSkate

STARSkate: Skills, Tests,Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about.

This program offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating.  Lessons are taught in both group and private format in a progressive and sequential manner.  Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada tests through a nationally standardized test system.  Group lessons are included in program cost, private lesson fees are in addition to the program cost and are paid directly to your coach. The FFSC STARSkate program is broken down into two levels, Silver and Gold. The level that skaters will skate at is based on their STARSkate test level that they are working on.

 

Silver StarSkate

Skaters have completed CanSkate Stage 6.  Recommended age 7 or older.  Sessions are one and a half hours in length.

 

Gold StarSkate

Skaters assesed for readiness by coaches.  Recommended age 9 or older.  Sessions are two and a half hours in length.
